This special service trek to Everest Base Camp begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, where trekkers will be introduced to the Sherpas and the porters. We start on the trail and trek for two days until we reach Namche Bazaar where there is a need to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. Again we trek for two more days before we again rest at Dingboche where we further acclimatize. Prior to ascending to Dingboche, we will visit Tengboche Village and its famous Buddhist Monastery with a backdrop of snow-clad peaks: Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. After leaving Dingboche we head off to Everest Base Camp (5364m) via Gorakshep the last village before reaching EBC. The next phase of our trek is to the well-known viewpoint at Kala Patthar (5550m) with its incredible views of Mt.Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Cho Oyu. The final leg of our trek is back to Lukla where we will catch a scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

The standard package offered by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking ensures proper acclimatization and an average 4 to 6 hours trek each day. It is not necessary to
Alert: There will be a slight change in the itinerary, especially the days when you take the domestic flights. In April & May and October & November of 2019, the government shifted the operation base for flights to and from Lukla (This is the actual starting point of the trek) from Kathmandu to Manthali, a town 4 to 5 hours drive away from Kathmandu. As a result, anyone who signed up for any Everest trek or climb had to go to Manthali to catch their flight. They moved the base because of renovation and high air traffic for Kathmandu's airport which is also the only international airport in Nepal. This change in the airport will continue in 2020 as well. Though right now there have been direct flights, we expect from March the airport will be shifted.
The following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek as the bag pack for the hiking in Nepal and the gear play a vital role for the successful trip and we suggest you to have all the necessary gear for the trip and not to have unnecessary equipment/things that you will not be using for the trip and list of the gear you need for the trek are:
(Note our company guide will carry the medicines and first aid kits during the trek. However, we recommend better to bring your personal first-aid kit as well)
You will be accommodated in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. During the trek, we will be staying at lodges/ teahouses. You may find comfort and better quality teahouses - having attached bathroom - until Namche which is a thriving town seeing many more tourists and a greater range of accommodation. It should be noted that at higher elevations the quality of accommodation may not be as good, with more basic rooms with the bare necessities.
In Kathmandu, your hotel includes breakfast, whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be not provided during the trek. A staple food of the Khumbu region is potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, and Tibetan bread. Sherpas started farming potatoes when the first seeds were introduced to the region in the early 90s. There is a limited choice of food at higher elevations and except many potato dishes. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates – an excellent source of energy needed at high altitudes.
We use a private car for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. We do not have to use public transportation or local buses during the trek. Our only flights are from Kathmandu to Lukla and return.
EBC is a challenging trek where you often have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You don’t need past experience of hiking or trekking but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus!. We have met people from all walks of life, shapes and sizes who have completed the trek. The only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have on your body. Before leaving for Nepal it is good if you can prepare yourself physically by increasing your stamina and oxygen intake.

Fantastic trip, couldn't have asked for more. Our guides were wonderful, the teahouses were pretty comfy (given the harsh environment), food was great and every day of the trek was an absolute treat.
