ITINERARY

Expand All

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,400m), the starting point of the trek. This drive takes approximately 6 hours and covers around 120 kilometers. As you drive through rural Nepal, you’ll pass terraced fields, rivers, and dense forests, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Upon arrival at Syabrubesi, you’ll begin your trek to Bamboo, a small village located at 2,340 meters. The trek from Syabrubesi to Bamboo is a relatively easy day, taking about 5-6 hours. You’ll pass through dense forests of rhododendron and oak trees, with occasional glimpses of the Langtang mountain range. This day serves as a gentle introduction to the trek, allowing for acclimatization.

Day 2 of the Langtang Valley Trek takes you from Bamboo to Langtang Village, which sits at an elevation of 3,500 meters. This is a longer and more challenging day, lasting about 6-7 hours of trekking.

As you ascend, you’ll pass through beautiful forests and small Tamang villages, with stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you'll cross several suspension bridges over the Langtang River, offering excellent photo opportunities. The scenery continues to get more dramatic as you approach Langtang Village, which was significantly affected by the 2015 earthquake but still remains a central point for trekkers. The village offers a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Tamang people, with its stone houses and Buddhist stupas.

On Day 3, you will trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa, a Buddhist monastery located at an altitude of 3,800 meters. The trek takes about 4-5 hours and covers a distance of approximately 6 km.

As you ascend, the landscape changes dramatically, offering more alpine meadows and fewer trees. The views of Langtang Lirung and the surrounding peaks become increasingly spectacular. Kyanjin Gompa is the spiritual heart of the Langtang region and offers a peaceful retreat where you can relax and immerse yourself in the Himalayan atmosphere. Here, you can visit the monastery and explore the surrounding area, enjoying the panoramic views of the majestic peaks that surround the valley.

Day 4 involves a challenging but rewarding hike to Kyanjin Ri, a viewpoint located at 4,773 meters. The hike up to Kyanjin Ri takes approximately 3-4 hours, and from the summit, you’ll be treated to sweeping panoramic views of the Langtang range, including Langtang Lirung, Gang Chhenpo, and other stunning peaks.

After spending some time at the summit to enjoy the views, you’ll descend back to Lama Hotel, located at 2,480 meters. The descent takes about 4-5 hours, and the route is much easier on the legs, passing through forests and small villages. Staying in Lama Hotel for the night allows for further acclimatization before the final leg of the trek.

On the final day of the Langtang Valley Trek, you will trek from Lama Hotel back to Syabrubesi, covering a distance of about 18 kilometers. This is a longer trek, lasting around 4 hours, and involves a steady descent through lush forests and small settlements. As you descend, you’ll have the chance to reflect on your journey through the Langtang Valley, enjoying the views from a different perspective.

Once you reach Syabrubesi, a private jeep will be waiting to take you back to Kathmandu, where you can rest and enjoy the comfort of the city after your adventure in the mountains. The drive takes around 6-7 hours, offering one last opportunity to soak in the beautiful views of the Himalayan foothills before returning to the bustling capital.

The best time to trek in the Langtang Valley is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer stable weather, clear skies, and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for trekking. The summer and monsoon months (June to August) can bring heavy rainfall, while the winter months (December to February) can be cold and challenging due to snow and low temperatures.

While the Langtang Valley Trek does involve significant elevation gain, it is considered a moderate trek, suitable for most trekkers with basic fitness. However, some experience in high-altitude trekking or a general level of physical fitness is recommended. The trek offers ample time for acclimatization, making it manageable for beginners and those with a moderate level of trekking experience.

The Langtang Valley trek takes you to an altitude of 3,430 meters (Langtang Village) with a high point at Kyanjin Ri, which sits at 4,773 meters. Trekking at these altitudes requires proper acclimatization to avoid altitude sickness.

The Langtang Valley Trek typically takes 5 to 7 days depending on the pace, rest days, and the route taken. It can be done in a shorter duration (5 days) or extended if you prefer more time for exploration and acclimatization.

These teahouses are simple, but provide a warm, comfortable place to rest after a long day of trekking. Bathrooms are generally shared, and hot water may be available for a fee in some locations.

While it’s not compulsory to hire a guide and porter, it is highly recommended, especially for those unfamiliar with high-altitude trekking. A guide will help navigate the trails, provide insights into the local culture, and ensure safety during the trek. A porter can help carry your luggage, allowing you to trek more comfortably and focus on the journey.

Yes, you need two permits for the Langtang Valley Trek: a Langtang National Park Permit and a Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) Card. These can be easily obtained in Kathmandu or at the trailhead before beginning your trek.

I signed up for the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition based on a friend’s recommendation, and now I can confidently say it was the best travel decision I’ve ever made. Our guide, Tshering, was truly special. Calm, experienced, and incredibly warm-hearted, he guided us through every step with confidence and care. What I admired most was how he made sure everyone in the group felt supported. Whether it was helping with altitude or simply offering a kind word during steep climbs, he was always there. The trek itself was stunning—every day revealed a new landscape and view. We trekked through rhododendron forests, past rivers and waterfalls, and finally reached the snow-filled amphitheater of Annapurna Base Camp. Sherpa Expedition managed all logistics perfectly—from flights to accommodation to delicious meals at the tea houses. Tshering taught us about the culture, pointed out peaks, and even made us laugh during the tough sections. The views from base camp were beyond anything I’ve ever seen—pure magic. I left Nepal with new friendships and a heart full of gratitude. Thank you, Tshering, and thank you, Sherpa Expedition, for an unforgettable experience.

Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Sherpa Expedition made the entire journey smooth and stress-free, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Dendi. His professionalism, combined with his kindness, made him the perfect companion for this adventure. Dendi was extremely knowledgeable and knew the region inside out—he explained the culture, the peaks, and ensured we were adjusting well to the altitude. Every day was an adventure—crossing rivers, walking through thick forest trails, and climbing toward snow-covered landscapes. Sherpa Expedition’s planning was excellent. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara was on time, the porters were friendly and hardworking, and the tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and offered surprisingly good food. Dendi checked our health daily, helped with gear issues, and created a supportive group atmosphere. When we finally reached base camp, the sheer beauty brought tears to my eyes. It felt like standing in the heart of nature. This was not just a trek, but an emotional and beautiful journey. I’m thankful to Dendi and the Sherpa Expedition team. I would absolutely recommend this company for anyone looking to experience the Himalayas.

My brother and I had a great trip to the Everest Base Camp. Together with Santa our very well informed gide, who took care of us in a fantastic way and gave us much information during the hike, and Gulzen our porter (who carried each day our two bags of 10kg each plus his own bag....unbelievable). We had a wonderful time in the beautiful Himalayas, it was a lifetime experience!
