This itinerary allows climbers to experience the Annapurna region’s stunning landscapes while ascending Pisang Peak (6,091m). The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you'll be transferred to a hotel and rest before starting the adventure.

From Kathmandu, you will embark on a scenic drive to Chame, the starting point of your trek. The trail takes you through picturesque villages and lush forests, gradually gaining altitude as you approach Pisang. After reaching Pisang, a rest day is planned for acclimatization, ensuring your body adjusts to the higher elevations in preparation for the summit.

The journey continues with a trek to the Base Camp of Pisang Peak, followed by a challenging climb to the High Camp, which will serve as the launch point for your summit attempt. The ascent involves some technical climbing, requiring the use of crampons, ice axes, and ropes, but the reward is a spectacular 360-degree view of the Annapurna and Manang regions.

Upon reaching the summit, you will take in panoramic views of towering peaks such as Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, and Tilicho. After summiting, you will descend back to Base Camp and continue your trek down to Dhikur Pokhari. From there, you will drive to Besisahar and, finally, return to Kathmandu to conclude your adventure.

ITINERARY

Expand All

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you’ll have some free time to relax, recover from your journey, or explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. The evening will include a briefing about the upcoming trek and an opportunity to prepare for the journey ahead.

After an early breakfast, you will depart from Kathmandu for a scenic drive to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang District. The drive will take approximately 9-11 hours and offers picturesque views of rural Nepal, terraced fields, and the mighty Himalayas. Upon arrival, you will check into a local lodge for the night, where you can rest and enjoy the surrounding scenery.

The day begins with a trek through pine forests and traditional villages. As you make your way along the trail, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Annapurna II and the surrounding mountains. After a 5-6 hour trek, you will reach Upper Pisang, a picturesque village located at an altitude of 3,700 meters. Spend the night in a local tea house and relax in preparation for the next phase of the trek.

Today is an acclimatization day, which is essential for adjusting to the higher altitude. You can spend the day resting, taking short hikes around Upper Pisang to further aid acclimatization, or exploring the village and its surroundings. Proper rest today is vital for your body to adjust to the altitude and to ensure a successful summit in the days ahead.

Today’s trek takes you to the base camp of Pisang Peak at an altitude of 4,380 meters. The route will be a gradual ascent, passing through alpine forests and rocky terrain. After a 4-5 hour trek, you will arrive at Base Camp, where you will rest, prepare your gear, and settle in for the night. The next day’s climb will begin from here.

The trail from Base Camp to High Camp is steep and challenging. The landscape becomes more rugged as you climb higher, and the views of the surrounding peaks become even more spectacular. After 4-5 hours of trekking, you will reach Pisang Peak High Camp at 5,400 meters. This will be your last stop before attempting the summit. You’ll spend the night here, preparing for the final ascent.

Today is the highlight of your adventure: summiting Pisang Peak. You will leave High Camp early in the morning and begin your ascent, which will involve some technical climbing on rocky and icy sections. The climb can take several hours, but the reward at the summit is breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Manang valleys. After reaching the top, you will descend back to Base Camp, where you will rest and recover from the challenging day.

A reserve day is built into the itinerary to account for any weather-related delays or obstacles. If conditions were unfavorable on Day 7, this extra day allows for another attempt at the summit. If all goes well, the reserve day can be used for additional rest or exploration.

After your summit attempt, you will begin your descent. The trek today takes you to Dhikur Pokhari, a beautiful village located at a lower altitude, which provides a great place to rest and recover. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, and the route is much easier as you descend into the lush, lower altitude regions.

From Dhikur Pokhari, you will drive to Besisahar, a hub for the Annapurna Circuit. The drive takes around 6-7 hours and offers scenic views of the countryside. In Besisahar, you will have time to relax and reflect on your trekking and climbing experiences.

The final leg of your journey is a 6-7 hour drive back to Kathmandu. As you leave the mountains behind, the drive will take you through beautiful landscapes, providing one last opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of Nepal. Once in Kathmandu, you’ll check into your hotel and have time to unwind and explore the city or do some last-minute shopping.

On the last day of your adventure, you will be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. If you have extra time, you can visit some of Kathmandu’s famous cultural landmarks before heading to the airport.

GOOD TO KNOW

Good to Know About Pisang Peak Climbing

Pisang Peak, standing at 6,091 meters, is one of the most popular climbing peaks in Nepal's Annapurna region. While it offers an exciting climbing experience, it’s also accessible for trekkers with basic mountaineering skills. Here are some key things you should know before embarking on the Pisang Peak climbing adventure:

Climbing Difficulty and Experience Needed

Pisang Peak climbing is considered a moderately difficult ascent. It requires technical climbing skills, including the use of crampons, ice axes, and ropes, especially on the final summit push. Climbers should have prior experience with trekking at high altitudes and be comfortable with rock and ice climbing. However, it is still achievable for those with strong physical fitness and basic mountaineering training.

Best Time to Climb

The best time to climb Pisang Peak is during the pre-monsoon (spring) season (March to May) and the post-monsoon (autumn) season (September to November). These months offer stable weather conditions, clear skies, and excellent visibility of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Avoid the monsoon months (June to August) when heavy rains and unstable weather conditions make climbing dangerous.

Trekking and Climbing Gear

Since Pisang Peak requires technical climbing, climbers must bring their own mountaineering gear such as crampons, ice axes, and harnesses. If you don’t have your own, these items can be rented in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Additionally, a down jacket, sleeping bag, and trekking poles are essential for high-altitude comfort. Make sure your equipment is in good condition before the expedition.

Acclimatization and Altitude Sickness

Pisang Peak’s high altitude makes acclimatization an important part of the trek. The itinerary includes scheduled acclimatization days to help reduce the risk of altitude sickness. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and monitor your health during the trek. Your guide will use an oxygen meter to track your oxygen levels and pulse to prevent altitude-related issues.

Health and Safety

The trek involves strenuous physical activity, and health conditions at higher altitudes can change rapidly. Carry a first-aid kit with essential medications, and be prepared for emergency situations. Your trekking company will arrange for emergency helicopter services if necessary, and you’ll be accompanied by a licensed guide and sherpa who are trained to handle high-altitude climbing safely.

Permits and Regulations

To climb Pisang Peak, you will need an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a TIMS card (Trekkers' Information Management System), both of which are included in your package. Additionally, a special climbing permit is required to summit Pisang Peak, and your guide will assist you in obtaining it. These permits are part of the conservation effort to maintain the natural beauty and safety of the Annapurna region.

Accommodation and Meals

During the trek, you’ll stay in tea houses, with basic yet comfortable accommodations. While trekking, three meals a day are provided, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In Kathmandu, you’ll have standard hotel accommodations for the duration of your stay. Fresh fruit will be served each evening after dinner to aid digestion and boost energy.

Cost Considerations

Your climbing package covers a wide range of services, including transportation, accommodation, permits, meals during the trek, and the expertise of your guides and porters. However, personal expenses such as meals in Kathmandu, alcoholic beverages, and extra food on the trek are not included. Be sure to budget for these additional costs accordingly.

Pisang Peak Climbing offers an excellent blend of adventure, stunning views, and a chance to experience the thrill of summiting a Himalayan peak. Proper preparation and understanding of the climbing process will ensure a safe and rewarding journey to the top!
