Trip Overview

Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, designed and operated by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the legendary Everest region. As the aircraft leaves the city behind, the landscape changes into rolling hills and dramatic Himalayan peaks. Once you land at Lukla, your unforgettable high-altitude trekking adventure begins.

The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests, suspension bridges, and traditional mountain villages. Each day takes you deeper into the Khumbu region, where the legendary Sherpa culture becomes an important part of the journey. The trail eventually reaches Namche Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the Everest region, where trekkers can explore the mountain town and enjoy stunning Himalayan mountain views.

After acclimatizing in Namche, the route continues toward Tengboche Monastery, one of the most spiritual places in the Khumbu Valley. With Ama Dablam rising dramatically above the landscape, the journey continues through the beautiful Sagarmatha National Park toward Dingboche and Lobuche.

As the trail climbs higher, the green valleys gradually transform into rugged alpine landscapes. Passing through Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep, the adventure moves closer to the legendary Everest Base Camp. The route follows the dramatic Khumbu Glacier, leading trekkers to the famous destination at 5,364 meters.

Reaching Everest Base Camp is a powerful moment, but the journey offers another unforgettable experience. An early morning hike to Kala Patthar provides breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam as the first sunlight touches the Himalayan peaks.

The Classic Everest Base Camp Trek is more than a journey through the Everest Base Camp route. It is a story of mountain villages, Sherpa traditions, challenging trails, changing landscapes, and personal achievement. From Lukla to Namche Bazaar, from Tengboche Monastery to Gorak Shep, every step brings you closer to the heart of the Himalayas. With the experience and support of Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, this unforgettable journey becomes a carefully guided adventure to the base of the world's highest mountain.

Classic Everest Base Camp Trek Day-by-day ITINERARY

Your Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, designed and operated by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital. Our team will welcome you at the airport and transfer you comfortably to your hotel.

After settling in, you can relax and prepare for your journey into the Everest region. Our team will help you with any final trekking preparations and provide the information you need before beginning your adventure toward the Khumbu region.

Your adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the famous gateway to the Everest Base Camp route. As the aircraft approaches the mountains, spectacular Himalayan views appear outside the window. After landing, you begin your first day of high-altitude trekking through beautiful mountain scenery.

The trail follows the Dudh Koshi Valley through pine forests, small mountain settlements, and peaceful Sherpa villages before reaching Phakding. This gentle introduction allows you to enjoy the landscape while gradually beginning your journey into the heart of the Khumbu region.

Today, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through beautiful forests and traditional villages. You cross several suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags and enter Sagarmatha National Park, where the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic.

The trail then climbs steadily toward Namche Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the Everest region and an important center of Sherpa culture. Reaching Namche after the uphill trail is a memorable moment, with impressive Himalayan mountain views waiting around the famous mountain town.

Today is an important acclimatization day during your Classic Everest Base Camp Trek. Rather than remaining completely inactive, you take a gradual hike through the hills above Namche Bazaar to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude.

The hike toward Everest View Hotel offers spectacular views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and other Himalayan peaks. After enjoying the panorama, you return to Namche Bazaar to explore the town and rest.

Leaving Namche Bazaar, the trail follows a scenic ridge with breathtaking views across the Everest region. The path then descends toward the Dudh Koshi River before climbing through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests.

Your destination is Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. Surrounded by dramatic Himalayan peaks, this peaceful mountain settlement offers one of the most memorable cultural and scenic experiences along the Everest Base Camp route.

The trail continues deeper into the Khumbu Valley, passing traditional Sherpa villages and beautiful mountain landscapes. As you gain altitude, the forests gradually become thinner and the terrain more rugged.

Eventually, you reach Dingboche, a beautiful high-altitude settlement surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. This section of the trek offers spectacular views of Ama Dablam and the changing landscapes of the Everest region.

Today is an important acclimatization day in Dingboche. Instead of simply resting, you hike toward Nangkartshang Peak, which rises to approximately 5,083 meters. The climb offers spectacular panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lhotse, Island Peak, and the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

After enjoying the breathtaking mountain scenery from the viewpoint, you descend back to Dingboche for a well-earned rest. This acclimatization hike helps your body adjust to the increasing altitude and prepares you for the higher sections of the Classic Everest Base Camp Trek toward Lobuche, Gorak Shep, and Everest Base Camp.

The trail gradually climbs through the rugged upper Khumbu region toward Lobuche. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as green valleys give way to rocky slopes, glacial terrain, and wide alpine landscapes.

Along the way, you pass memorials dedicated to climbers and mountaineers who lost their lives in the Himalayas. With the surrounding mountains growing closer, you can feel that Everest Base Camp is now within reach.

Today is one of the most anticipated days of the Classic Everest Base Camp Trek. From Lobuche, the trail leads toward Gorak Shep, the final settlement before Everest Base Camp, before continuing across the rugged landscape near the Khumbu Glacier.

The trail then reaches Everest Base Camp at 5,360m, where you can celebrate the incredible achievement of reaching the base of the world's highest mountain. After spending time enjoying the spectacular surroundings, you return to Gorak Shep for the night.

An early morning hike takes you to Kala Patthar, one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region. As the first sunlight reaches Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, the landscape becomes an unforgettable golden panorama.

After enjoying the Kala Patthar viewpoint, you descend to Gorak Shep and continue toward Pheriche. The descent brings you gradually to a lower altitude, offering relief after the challenging high-altitude sections of the trek.

The return journey follows the trail back through the beautiful Khumbu Valley. As you descend, the air becomes warmer and the landscape gradually becomes greener, creating a noticeable contrast with the rugged terrain around Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp.

Passing through familiar villages and mountain scenery, you eventually return to Namche Bazaar. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the famous Sherpa town after completing the highest sections of your journey.

Today marks your final day of high-altitude trekking. The trail descends through forests, Sherpa villages, and beautiful mountain landscapes as you follow the Dudh Koshi Valley back toward Lukla.

After crossing suspension bridges and retracing sections of the trail, you arrive in Lukla. Here, you can relax and reflect on your unforgettable journey through the Everest region, including Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Everest Base Camp, and Kala Patthar.

After breakfast, you take a scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. The approximately 30-minute flight offers a final aerial view of the Himalayan landscape and the mountains you have just explored on your Classic Everest Base Camp Trek.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can relax at your hotel and enjoy the comfort of the city after your incredible journey through the Khumbu region.

Today, your Classic Everest Base Camp Trek with Sherpa Expedition and Trekking comes to an end. Depending on your international flight schedule, our team will arrange your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your journey home.

As you leave Nepal, you take with you unforgettable memories of Mount Everest, Sherpa culture, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and the spectacular Himalayan landscapes experienced throughout your adventure. We hope to welcome you again for another journey with Sherpa Expedition and Trekking.
