Everest South Base Camp Trek Day-by-day ITINERARY

Your Everest South Base Camp Trek begins with an unforgettable early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the world's most exciting mountain airports. During the 35-minute scenic flight, enjoy spectacular aerial views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, lush valleys, and picturesque mountain villages before landing in the heart of the Khumbu Region.

After meeting your trekking crew, the adventure officially begins as you follow the well-maintained trail through the traditional Sherpa villages of Chheplung, Ghat, and Phakding. The route winds alongside the beautiful Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges decorated with colorful Buddhist prayer flags while offering the first glimpses of Kusum Kanguru and Thamserku.

Continuing through peaceful pine forests and charming villages, you'll enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo before trekking a short distance further to the peaceful village of Jorsalle, where you'll spend your first night in a comfortable Himalayan teahouse.

After breakfast, today's trek begins with one of the most exciting sections of the Everest trail. Crossing the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, you'll gradually ascend through dense forests of pine, fir, and rhododendron before reaching the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, the commercial center of the Everest region.

After a short rest and lunch, continue climbing along a scenic mountain trail with breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and several other Himalayan giants. Wildlife such as Himalayan pheasants, musk deer, and mountain goats are occasionally spotted along this section.

The trail eventually reaches the sacred village of Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest and most important Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu Region. Surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, Tengboche offers one of the finest viewpoints of the entire trek.

Wake up to magnificent sunrise views over Everest and Ama Dablam before continuing your journey deeper into the Himalayas. Descending through beautiful forests, you'll cross the Imja Khola River before climbing steadily towards Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa settlements in the region.

The landscape gradually changes from green forests to rugged alpine terrain as you pass through Shomare and the wide glacial valley of Dingboche. Towering peaks dominate the skyline while yaks transport supplies along ancient mountain trails.

Continuing higher, you'll arrive at Thukla (Dughla), a small settlement located beneath the impressive Khumbu Glacier. The crisp mountain air, dramatic scenery, and surrounding snow-covered peaks create an unforgettable Himalayan atmosphere as you prepare for your final ascent to Everest Base Camp.

Today is the highlight of your Everest South Base Camp Trek. After breakfast, you'll climb gradually alongside the spectacular Khumbu Glacier, passing rocky moraine trails surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks.

Arriving at Gorakshep, the last permanent settlement before Everest Base Camp, you'll enjoy lunch before continuing towards your ultimate destination. The trail follows the glacier across rugged terrain until you finally reach Everest South Base Camp (5,364m).

Standing at the foot of the world's highest mountain is an emotional and unforgettable experience. During the spring climbing season, colorful expedition tents fill the base camp as climbers prepare for their summit attempts. Surrounded by the massive Khumbu Icefall, towering glaciers, and spectacular Himalayan scenery, this is a moment you'll remember forever.

After celebrating your achievement, taking photographs, and soaking in the incredible atmosphere, you'll retrace your steps back to Gorakshep for your overnight stay.

Your final day begins before sunrise with an early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,555m), the highest point of the trek and the best viewpoint for panoramic views of Mount Everest. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Lingtren, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, you'll witness one of the most breathtaking mountain sunrises in the world.

After enjoying plenty of time for photography and unforgettable memories, descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast before boarding a shared helicopter for a spectacular flight back to Lukla. This incredible helicopter journey offers an unforgettable aerial perspective of the Khumbu Glacier, Everest Base Camp, Sherpa villages, and the dramatic Himalayan landscape.

From Lukla, you'll board your scheduled flight back to Kathmandu, where your remarkable 5-Day Everest South Base Camp Trek comes to an end with lifelong memories of Nepal's majestic Himalayas.
