The most amazing aspect of Climbing Lobuche Peak -10 day Himalayan adventure is that physical fitness and acclimatization are not a must. Standing at 6,119 meters, Lobuche East is a popular trekking peak in the Everest Region of Nepal, perfect for experienced trekkers to get their first taste of technical climbing.
The trip starts with a breathtaking 35-minute mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (one of the most scenic air routes in the world). On this, you will begin your trek to Phakding and a demanding climb up to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital. Take a day to acclimate to the high altitude in Namche with a hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village.
Leaving Namche, the trail passes through dense rhododendron forests and over suspension bridges to Pangboche, where the oldest monastery in the area is located. Another acclimatization day here, with a hike to the Ama Dablam Base camp (4,600m), a worthwhile detour for the stunning views as you adjust to the high altitude.
The walk goes on to Thukla, where you spend another acclimatization day, essential before moving on to higher altitudes. With this more leisurely pace, your body is better able to acclimate for summit night, and you will lower your chance of succumbing to altitude sickness.
Then you’ll climb to Lobuche High Camp (5,600m) through glacier moraines and rocky trails. Summit day starts early after a night at High Camp. Using technical gear (crampons, an ice axe, ropes), you’ll ascend to the top of Lobuche Peak, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and more.
From Thukla, you will trek down to Pheriche and finally a scenic helicopter flight returning you back to Lukla and a normal flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, saying goodbye to your adventure.
This 10-day Lobuche Peak Climbing is a challenging but exciting journey in the Himalayas. Attraction features of the region include technical climbing, good acclimatization, and the return flight by helicopter for ultimate convenience and safety.
The adventure begins with a scenic 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the most thrilling airport landings in the world. Upon arrival in Lukla, you’ll meet your trekking team and begin your journey. The first trek takes you to Phakding, a beautiful village along the Dudh Koshi River. The trail passes through lush forests, bridges, and traditional Sherpa villages.
Today’s trek takes you through dense forests of pine and rhododendron as you gradually ascend toward Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the Khumbu region. Along the way, you’ll cross several suspension bridges and pass through Sagarmatha National Park. After a steep final climb, you will arrive in Namche, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Today is an important acclimatization day. The body needs time to adjust to the higher altitude, so instead of trekking, you’ll go on a light hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village. These hikes provide fantastic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, while also helping your body adapt to the altitude.
Leaving Namche, the trail climbs gradually towards Tengboche Monastery, one of the most significant Buddhist sites in the Khumbu region. After visiting the monastery, continue through the picturesque village of Pangboche. The trail offers spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and other towering peaks.
Another essential acclimatization day is spent hiking to Ama Dablam Base Camp. This trek provides a perfect opportunity to explore the stunning landscapes of the Everest region while acclimatizing to the altitude. The views of Ama Dablam up close are simply breathtaking.
From Pangboche, trek through the rugged terrain to Thukla, passing through sparse vegetation and rocky paths. The ascent gets steeper as you approach Thukla. The views of Pumori, Nuptse, and Everest are magnificent as you near the Thukla area, a crucial stop before heading to higher altitudes.
Thukla is a great place to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. Today, you will stay in Thukla and do a short acclimatization hike around the area to help your body prepare for the challenging days ahead. This rest day will ensure you’re fully ready for the summit attempt.
From Thukla, trek to Lobuche High Camp via rocky moraine and glacial paths. The trail gets steeper as you gain altitude, but you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views of surrounding mountains. Arriving at Lobuche High Camp, you’ll rest and prepare for the summit attempt, with your guide ensuring all technical gear is ready for the ascent.
Summit Day! The day begins early, as you ascend to the summit of Lobuche Peak. Using crampons, ice axes, and ropes, you will navigate steep ridges and snow-covered sections to reach the peak at 6,119 meters. The summit offers unparalleled views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding mountains. After reaching the top, descend safely back to Thukla for the night, where you’ll celebrate your accomplishment.
From Thukla, trek to Pheriche, and from there, take a helicopter ride back to Lukla. This helicopter ride not only saves you from a long descent but also provides a fantastic aerial view of the Khumbu region. Upon arrival in Lukla, catch a flight back to Kathmandu, where you’ll wrap up your epic Lobuche Peak climbing adventure.
You’ll carry your personal gear and share some group equipment, so pack light with layered, weather-appropriate clothing—avoid cotton and choose breathable, insulating fabrics. A windproof duffle (provided and carried by porters) and water are included. Non-trekking items can be stored in Kathmandu. Sherpa Expedition & Trekking supplies all essential expedition gear.
It is important to invest in high-quality gear and ensure that everything fits properly and is in good condition. Additionally, consult with experienced climbers or a professional guide to ensure you have all the necessary gear and receive proper training on how to use it effectively and safely.
Note: Essential climbing equipment, including an ice axe, crampons, climbing boots, harness, helmet, safety rope, ascender (jumar), and carabiner, can be hired in Dongboche. The total cost is approximately USD 120 per person for a complete set.

These months offer the clearest skies, stable weather, and comfortable temperatures for trekking and climbing. Winter and monsoon seasons are not ideal due to heavy snowfall and high risks of altitude sickness.
