ITINERARY

Expand All

The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,804m), a small mountain airport. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your trekking team and start your journey. The trail gradually descends through small Sherpa villages and lush forests, passing through Chheplung and Ghat before reaching Manjo. The village is situated at around 2,800 meters, and you'll spend the night in a local lodge, acclimatizing to the higher altitude.

Today, the trail climbs steadily toward the bustling market town of Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the gateway to the Everest region. Along the way, you will cross over suspension bridges and catch your first views of Mount Everest and Ama Dablam. Once in Namche, you will have a chance to explore the town, visit the local market, and enjoy the vibrant Sherpa culture. Namche is a great place to rest and acclimatize.

Today, you’ll descend slightly from Namche Bazaar and head towards the small village of Deboche (3,820m), nestled near the Tengboche Monastery. The trek offers stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam as you pass through pine forests, cross rivers, and approach Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. After visiting the monastery, you’ll continue on to Deboche, where you will spend the night.

Today’s trek takes you from Deboche to Thukla (4,620m), a small settlement located near the Khumbu Glacier. The trail climbs steeply, passing through rhododendron forests and along mountain ridges, with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Thukla marks the start of the final push toward Everest Base Camp, and you'll spend the night here in a simple yet cozy lodge.

This is one of the most exciting days of the trek, as you reach Everest Base Camp (5,170m). After an early start, you will trek along the Khumbu Glacier, passing the memorials of past climbers before finally reaching the base camp. The views of Everest and surrounding peaks are awe-inspiring. After spending some time at Base Camp, you will return to Gorak Shep (5,180m) for an overnight stay.

In the early morning, you’ll hike up to Kala Patthar (5,550m), one of the best viewpoints in the region. From here, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, and other towering peaks. After soaking in the views, you’ll descend back to Gorak Shep and then continue trekking to Pangboche (3,985m), a Sherpa village nestled beneath Ama Dablam. This is a beautiful and peaceful village to rest for the night.

Today, you’ll retrace your steps back to Namche Bazaar. The descent through forests and villages is a beautiful way to reflect on the adventure and take in the surrounding natural beauty. You will cross several suspension bridges, pass through Phunki Tenga, and continue to Namche Bazaar. Once you arrive, enjoy the comforts of this bustling town, where you’ll spend your last night at higher altitudes.

On the final day of your trek, you’ll descend from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, passing through the villages of Monjo and Phakding. The trail is mostly downhill, with a few moderate uphill sections. Upon reaching Lukla, you’ll have time to relax, celebrate your achievements, and reflect on your incredible journey through the Everest region.

The trek ends with a scenic 30-minute flight back to Kathmandu. As you fly over the stunning landscapes of the Himalayas, you’ll reflect on the incredible experience of trekking to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, and the unforgettable memories made along the way. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the city’s vibrant culture.

My experience with Sherpa Lhakpa was fantastic! He was incredibly attentive to all of my needs and always had a smile on his face. The trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes was well-organized by the Sherpa Expedition team. Every detail, from the teahouses to the trekking gear, was taken care of. The views along the way were absolutely breathtaking, and I’ll never forget the moment I reached Everest Base Camp.

This trek is probably the best starting point for people planning to trek the peaks in the Everest Region. The trek difficulty is moderate for an absolutely unprepared person, and easy for experienced hikers. The trek is filled with stunning beauty of the very diverse Himalayan terrain. It was a fine experience with dense forests, plain mountains and rocky regions. The trek to the summit was exceptional, and I witnessed the sunrise of a lifetime at the summit, along with a great panoramic view of Mt. Everest and the Greater Himalayan Range. Climatic conditions were good, except for very strong wind on the way to the summit from base camp. I profusely thank Mr. Lhakpa Sona, the Sherpa who was with me throughout the trek, making accommodation and food arrangements during the trek, and for guiding me at each step as it was my first Himalayan trek. I also thank Mr. Ang Giljin the porter, who carried my personal effects and luggage and was incredibly supportive. Finally, I thank Mr. Ram Barakoti for organizing this trek for me. I'm already making plans for my next trek to Gokyo valley and Mt. Gokyo Ri summit with Lhakpa, as the next step towards my dream of summiting Mt. Everest. Thank you Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Pvt. Ltd. ! Let's meet again soon.
