From Muktinath, you’ll take a local bus ride to Tatopani, known for its relaxing hot springs, where you can unwind and rejuvenate. The next day, you’ll hike to Ghorepani, followed by an early morning trek to Poon Hill for spectacular sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Afterward, you’ll make your way down to Nayapul, followed by a drive to Pokhara and then return to Kathmandu. After breakfast, begin your scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district. The journey takes you through picturesque villages, lush forests, and winding mountain roads. You’ll pass through Besisahar and Ngadi, where the landscape transitions from subtropical forests to the beginnings of the high mountains. The drive is long but scenic, offering first glimpses of the stunning landscapes you will encounter during your trek. Upon arrival in Chame, rest and prepare for the next day's trek.
Your trekking journey begins today as you set out from Chame to Pisang. This day’s trek takes you through forests of pine and oak, with occasional views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. Along the way, you will pass through small villages, with the chance to see traditional architecture and interact with locals. After 5-6 hours of walking, you will arrive in Pisang, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
On Day 4, you will trek from Pisang to Manang, passing through Ngawal along the way. The trail offers a combination of gradual ascents and a few steep sections. As you pass through the village of Ngawal, you’ll have magnificent views of the Annapurna and Gangapurna mountains. After a 6-7 hour trek, you will reach Manang, a larger village that serves as an important rest point for trekkers. You’ll have time to explore Manang’s monasteries and enjoy its stunning views.

As you approach the base camp, the environment becomes more barren, with rocky paths and towering peaks. After a 5-6 hour trek, you’ll arrive at Tilicho Base Camp, where you’ll stay overnight.
On Day 8, you’ll make the ascent to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world at 4,949 meters. The lake is surrounded by dramatic snow-capped peaks, offering an unforgettable view. After taking time to enjoy the beauty of the area, you will return to Siri Kharka. The round trip will take about 5-6 hours, and once back, you can relax and rest for the next day's trek.

After 4-5 hours, you will reach Yak Kharka, a peaceful settlement that will serve as your resting place for the night. Day 10 takes you from Yak Kharka to Phedi or High Camp, located near the base of Thorong La Pass. The day’s trek involves a gradual ascent through high-altitude terrain, with sparse vegetation and increasingly rugged conditions. After a 4-5 hour trek, you will reach Phedi or High Camp, where you will rest and prepare for the challenging day ahead.
Today is the most challenging day of the trek, as you will cross Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters), the highest point of the entire journey. You will begin the day early to avoid the strong winds at the pass and ensure enough time for rest. After reaching the pass and enjoying breathtaking panoramic views, you will descend to Muktinath, a sacred site for Hindus and Buddhists. The entire journey takes 8-9 hours, but the reward of crossing the pass and visiting Muktinath makes it worth the effort.
After visiting Muktinath, you’ll take a local bus or jeep ride to Tatopani. The drive is about 5-6 hours and takes you through scenic landscapes, including terraced fields and traditional villages. Once in Tatopani, you can relax in the natural hot springs to soothe your muscles and recover from the high-altitude trek.

This trek is probably the best starting point for people planning to trek the peaks in the Everest Region. The trek difficulty is moderate for an absolutely unprepared person, and easy for experienced hikers. The trek is filled with stunning beauty of the very diverse Himalayan terrain. It was a fine experience with dense forests, plain mountains and rocky regions. The trek to the summit was exceptional, and I witnessed the sunrise of a lifetime at the summit, along with a great panoramic view of Mt. Everest and the Greater Himalayan Range. Climatic conditions were good, except for very strong wind on the way to the summit from base camp. I profusely thank Mr. Lhakpa Sona, the Sherpa who was with me throughout the trek, making accommodation and food arrangements during the trek, and for guiding me at each step as it was my first Himalayan trek.
