Everest Base Camp Trek 15 Days begins with fly from Kathmandu to Lukla airport and follow the trail that treks along the banks of the thundering Dudh Koshi River.

Arrive Namche Bazaar on the Third day of the trip. Trek past the Sherpa villages of Debuche, Dingboche, and Lobuche to reach Gorakshep, a small settlement (5,180m) that sits on the edge of a frozen, sand-covered lakebed. Arrived at Everest Base Camp, located in the middle of the Khumbu Glacier, on the tenth day of the trip.

Hike for Kala Patthar next. Enjoy the Majestic views of the mountains, including Mount Ama Dablam,  Kangtega, Nuptse, Thamserku,  Kusum Kanguru, Pumori,  Lhotse, Lobuche Peak, Island Peak, Mount Makalu and, of course, the breathtaking Mount Everest itself, towering above the rest.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, and trek to Phakding (2,651m) Duration: 4-5 hours

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,350m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Dingboche

Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche (4940) Duration: 5-6 hours

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,180m), And Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364M) Duration 7-9 hours

Accommodations:

You will be accommodating in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. During the trek, we will be using lodge/ teahouses. You may find comfortable and well- developed teahouses having attached bathroom until Namche as it is the most happening place where thousands of tourists love to spend their holiday. However, not all grade accommodation are available in higher elevation, normally rooms are basic with just a bed and blankets.

Meals during the trek:

You will be served BB plan in Kathmandu whereas all meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) will be provided during the trek. A staple food of Khumbu region are potatoes, oats, buckwheat, Sherpa stew, Tibetan bread it is known that Sherpas’ started farming potato when the first seeds were introduced to the region in the early 90s. That is why we have limited choices of food in higher elevation except the dishes made from potatoes.

Transportation:

We use a private car for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop. We don’t have to use public transportation or local bus during the trek. Only the flight takes place from Kathmandu to Lukla and back to Kathmandu.

Water:

There are many ways to get on the trek. You can buy bottled water at a guest house. Similarly, you can also buy hot water at the guest house and fill up your thermos. Besides that, you can fill your water bottle from the near running water tap or spring and use a water purification tablet to purity it. It cost USD 1-5 for a bottle of water.

Travel Insurance:

Trekking to the Everest region is no joke. People all the time faces some sorts of complications while on the trek. So to not be overtly damaged due to untimely events having travel insurance while traveling the foreign country is very important. For Everest Base Camp trek, your travel insurance should cover the altitude of 6000m and emergency helicopter evacuation.

Physical fitness:

Everest Base Camp is a challenging trek. You have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You don’t need past experience of walking or trekking but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus point. We have met people from all trekkers of life, shapes and sizes completing the trek, the only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have in your body.

Day By Day Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Trek 15 Days

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to hotel.

Arrive in Tribhuvan International airport  Kathmandu at any time. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking representative will welcome you and give you further details of the program. There are no planned activities for your arrival day in Kathmandu, so check into the hotel, get your bearings and enjoy your stay in Thamel Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing

Today after having breakfast in the morning, 8:00 am our city tour guide takes you to Swayambhunath temple which is popularly known as ‘(Monkey Temple)’ among tourists. The major attractions of the temple are Spherical dome, Mani wheels, huge bajra, holy stupas, and reckless monkeys. The tours head from Shymabhunath towards Patan, the city of festival, feast, art, and culture. The main highlights of the tour are Patan Durbar square, Krishna Mandir, Ganesh Mandir, museum and different places that hold cultural, architectural and religious importance. Boudhanath is the next UNESCO listed site in Kathmandu. The Buddhist stupa here is one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. This is the most sacred shrine of Buddhists where Hindus and Buddhist pilgrims worship throughout the year. Finally, you visit Pashupatinath temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. Non-Hindus are not allowed to enter inside the premises of the Pashupatinath temple. At Pashupatinath, You inspect the traditional cremation ceremony from the opposite bank of the holy Bagmati River and capture the exotic scene in the camera. This evening time, the tour guide takes you back to your own hotel. Get refreshed and prepare gears or luggage for the early morning Lukla flight and trek on the next day. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, and trek to Phakding (2,651m) Duration: 4-5 hours

Our representative will pick you from your hotel and drive you to Tribhuvan Domestic Airport in Kathmandu. A quick, 25-33 minute flight from Kathmandu will take you to Lukla (2,860m), the gateway to the Everest region and the starting point of this trek.
Trek through the Dudhkoshi River Valley, past various settlements such as Chheplung and Chaurikharka, before arriving Phakding. Enjoy great views of the Himalayas during the hike. This is a leisurely day with a gradual descends of approximately 200 meters. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m) Duration: 5-6 hours

After having breakfast get ready for a steep climb. We follow the trail of the thundering Dudh Kosi River, cross numerous suspension bridges along with the path. The trek past Monjo and Jorsalle villages until we reach Namche Bazaar (3,440m), a village in the mountains that is also the center of commerce in the Everest region. Overnight stay in Guesthouse.

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar 

Today we will stay in Namche and allow your body to acclimatize to the high altitude. We have the option to hike to the nearby areas. The trading and administrative center of the Everest region, Namche is home to various government offices, banks, plenty of shops and eateries.

One of the most interesting optional hikes on our list is the one that takes us to Everest View Hotel, from where we can enjoy great views of Mount Everest and other high mountains peaks in the Himalayas.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Today after Breakfast we start your day with a quick ascend followed by a flat trail to reach Kyanjuma. Trek downhill from there to arrive Phunki Tenga. Passing the Dudh Koshi River to arrive at Tengboche Monastery, the most important Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region. Depending upon the weather and other factors, we might end Our day in Tengboche (3,870m).

Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,350m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Today after hot Breakfast we make a quick descend to Debuche before starting an uphill climb towards Pangboche. We can see, Mount  Everest, Amadablam and Nuptse mountains along the way. We will stop in Pangboche for tea before continuing to Somare for lunch. Trek through the Imja Valley and cross Lobuche Stream before ascending to Dingboche (4,410m).

Day 08: Acclimatization day at Dingboche

Today is another rest day in Dingboche. The settlement of Dingboche is gorgeous, with fields and pastures flanked by stone walls. Visit the village or relax in our hotel and allow our body to acclimatize to the changing altitude. We can also participate in one of our optional hikes to Nangkartshang Peak or the Chhukung Valley.

Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche (4940) Duration: 5-6 hours

After having breakfast we start a difficult day with steep climbing awaits us. The day starts will a gradual climb to Dughla, where we will stop for lunch. It will be an early lunch today but we do not have another option before arriving Lobuche.

We steep climb from Dughla will take us to the memorial of famous mountaineers such as Scott Fischer and Babu Chiri Sherpa and many more climbers. Enter the Khumbu Glacier area and follow the route to Lobuche (4,910m), where we will be spending your night.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,180m), And Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364M) Duration 7-9 hours

Today after breakfast we start our journey first section of the trail will take us to Gorakshep via the Khumbu Glacier. We will drop our bags and enjoy our lunch in Gorakshep before heading to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). The path takes us through terrain strewn with rocks, moraines, streams, and a glacier. Arrive Everest Base Camp, located in the middle of the Khumbu Glacier. We will return to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.

If we can muster some energy and if the weather gods permit, we will hike up to Kala Patthar late in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset. We need to note that it's not easy to cover Gorakshep, Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar on the same day.

Day 11: Hike to Kala Pathar (5550m) and trek Pangboche (3985m) Duration: 7-9 hours

 In case we could not make it to Kala Patthar yesterday, today is our chance. climb up to this famous landmark located above Gorakshep and enjoy amazing views of the mountains shining in the color of the morning sunrise.

We spend some time there before descending to Gorakshep. We grab our breakfast and start your downhill journey to Pangboche. A sunset view of Mount Amadablam from Pangboche is an unforgettable experience.

Day 12: Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) Duration: 6-7 hours

We start to Continue your journey downhill. Cross the Dudh Kosi River and make a steep climb to Kyanjuma. From this point on, the trail is largely flat or downhill until we reach the headquarters of Sagarmatha National Park just above Namche Bazaar.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860m) Duration: 6-7 hours

Today after breakfast a long day on a downhill path awaits us. Today is the last day of our trek is full of steep descends along the Dudh Kosi until we reach Phakding for lunch. The path from Phakding to Lukla is mostly a gentle, uphill climb.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,350m) Duration: 35 Minutes

We are taking an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our almost 2 weeks mountain odyssey. On arriving Kathmandu, we can take some rest or do some last-minute souvenir shopping. If you want to participate in any other activities of ancient Kathmandu, you may do that today. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team can help you with some shopping or sightseeing. You will enjoy a farewell dinner at a good restaurant in the evening. While enjoying Your meals, we’ll be entertained with some scintillating cultural dances performed by the local belles to celebrate the successful conclusion of a fantastic trip. You will stay in Kathmandu Thamel at 3-star Hotel. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Included.

Day 15: Farewell

After hot breakfast, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team and office vehicle will be on standby at your hotel to transfer you to the airport for your connecting flight home. The following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek as the backpack for the hiking in Nepal and the gear play a vital role for the successful trip and we suggest you to have all the necessary gear for the trip and not to have unnecessary equipment/things that you will not be using for the trip and list of the gear you need for the trek are:

  • Good down Sleeping bag (Optional/we can provide one if you do not have on your own and it is to be returned after the trek.
  • Duffel or Rucksack bag to keep your all gear and this will be carried by the porters.

  • Imodium or Peptone besom, Flexon capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
  • Diamox 125 or 250mg or 400mg tablets for altitude sickness.
  • 1 small personal sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as moleskin, band-aids, some waterproof tape, anti-infection ointments, etc.(Sherpa expedition and Trekking company's team also provide first aid kits)

  • Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies)
  • Durable wallet/pouch for travel documents, money & passport.
  • Lip care (Balm) At least SPF 20, 2 sticks.

  • Toiletry kits and be sure to include toilet paper stored in a plastic bag, hand wipes, and liquid hand sanitizer, towel, soap, etc.
