Experience the feeling of looking down on the world below while simultaneously looking across at the soaring peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Dhampus Peak is also known as Thapa Peak and takes you through the high altitude Thapa Pass (5244m) and to Dhampus Peak (6012m).

This is an amazing journey in the Upper Kali Gandaki (river and gorge). Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will safely lead you to the summit where you can see more than 30 other snow-covered peaks, and extremely close-up views of Tukuche (6920m) and Dhaulagiri 1 (8167m). There will be ample time for you to acclimatize before ascending Dhampus Peak.

The Annapurna and Mustang regions are rich in flora and fauna and you can expect to see a magnificent display of Nepal’s national emblem, the rhododendron tree with its striking white, pink and red blossoms while trekking through the lower regions of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.

ITINERARY

Sherpa Expedition & Trekking staff will be there to greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel, followed by a briefing covering information, dos and don’ts of your trek. Your safety and comfort are paramount.

Our journey begins with a 6-7 hour drive toward the Pokhara Valley and its beautiful Phewa Tal (lake) and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal. There is plenty to see and do along Lakeside with its many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from.

Today we head off from Pokhara towards Beni, a three-hour scenic drive before starting our three-four trek from Beni Tatopani passing through cultivated fields before reaching Tatopani Village where we can take a dip in the therapeutic hot pools. We will stay overnight here.

Today we will take the trail alongside the Myagdi Khola (river) and after six hours reach Ghasa where we stay the night.

Today we have a six hour trek ahead of us as we head to Larjung Village where we will stay overnight.

A five hour trek today takes us through the quiet and peaceful valley to Marpha where we will stay the night.

A five hour trek today takes us to Yak Kharka where we stay overnight.

Today we leave Yak Kharka and head to a much higher altitude to Dhampus Pass where we will stay the night.

In order to reach the summit around lunchtime we will be up real early. The higher we climb the more stunning the views over a vast white landscape of enormous peaks. This is an excellent opportunity to snap photographs of the many 30 plus soaring peaks – especially close-up views of Tukuche (6920m) and Dhaulagiri 1 (8167m). We will then head down to Kalopani where we will stay overnight.

We rapidly descend to Tatopani where we can relax in the hot pools and after sleep soundly here overnight.

Our trekking days are over as we take a scenic drive back to Pokhara where we will stay near Lakeside with many bars and restaurants where you can reminisce with friends over a drink and talk about you trek and climbing adventure to Dhampus Peak.

Today we head back on a 6 to 7 hour drive to Kathmandu with many fond memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will last a lifetime!

  • All the alcoholic and nonalcoholic, soup, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cocoa, mineral water, extra food, cold and hot drinks on trek ( i.e. those you choose to purchase along the way and during evenings in the tea houses)

  • NOTE: If you return earlier from the trek due to sickness or any problem, the money you paid for the flight, hotel, mountain room, food, etc. is nonrefundable, and you will need to bear the expenses for the hotel, food, etc. in Kathmandu yourself.

EQUIPMENTS

You will be carrying all of your gear and share some of the cluster gear. Keeping your pack light is important, so choose light-weight clothing and equipment. Be sure to have a range of clothing suitable for all conditions. Sudden change of weather may require layering of clothing. Three layers will meet your needs. Avoid cotton or fabrics that do not maintain heat when cold. Comfortable durable wool (or proven fabrics) that breathe and expel sweat lends itself to an additional pleasant experience!'

We will offer complimentary water and a windproof duffle that you'll use on the trek -  carried by porters. The duffle is yours to keep once at the end of the trek. You can safely leave your bag, together with your non-trekking requirements, at our office in Katmandu and collect them upon your return.

All equipment, such as base camp tents, room accessories, climbing rope, ice screws, snow bar and ice hammer is provided by Sherpa Expedition & Trekking.

Upper Body:
