The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the most spectacular and adventurous trekking routes in Nepal, offering trekkers a chance to explore pristine landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and breathtaking Himalayan vistas. This 7-day trek, designed meticulously by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, begins from the bustling capital Kathmandu and culminates in the serene city of Pokhara, ensuring a diverse and unforgettable experience.
Starting early from Kathmandu, trekkers embark on a scenic drive to Jagat, the gateway to the Manaslu region. The journey itself provides an introduction to the diverse culture and topography of rural Nepal, with glimpses of traditional villages and terraced fields. Jagat serves as the entry point to a remote and less-explored Himalayan wilderness, promising an authentic trekking experience far from the crowded trails.
The trail from Jagat leads you through the picturesque villages of Deng, Namrung, and Samagaon. Each village is rich in Tibetan Buddhist culture, reflected in their monasteries, prayer flags, and unique lifestyle. Namrung is particularly known for its stunning views of the majestic Manaslu massif, the eighth highest peak in the world, which dominates the skyline and inspires trekkers throughout the journey. The cultural encounters with local Gurung and Tibetan ethnic communities provide deep insight into their age-old traditions and hospitality.
One of the highlights of the Manaslu Circuit is the crossing of the Larkya La Pass, standing at an altitude of 5,016 meters. This challenging but rewarding passage offers panoramic views of towering Himalayan giants such as Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli, rewarding trekkers with an unforgettable alpine experience. The Larkya La Pass is a critical point of the trek, marking a significant accomplishment for adventurers and photographers alike.
Descending from the pass, trekkers make their way to Bhimthang, a remote highland settlement known for its lush meadows and the unique flora and fauna of the region. Bhimthang is a place where the tranquility of nature and the simplicity of mountain life merge seamlessly, giving trekkers a peaceful respite after the strenuous crossing.
After the trek, the journey continues with a shared jeep ride from Bhimthang to Besisahar, a vibrant town that serves as a transport hub connecting the Manaslu region with other parts of Nepal. From Besisahar, travelers take a private car or jeep to the picturesque city of Pokhara, famed for its stunning lakeside views, relaxing atmosphere, and proximity to the Annapurna mountain range.
Pokhara offers the perfect end to the Manaslu Circuit Trek, with opportunities to unwind by Phewa Lake, explore local markets, and enjoy delicious Nepali cuisine. The city’s laid-back vibe contrasts beautifully with the rugged adventure of the trek, making it a favorite destination for trekkers and tourists alike.
Designed by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, this 7-day Manaslu Circuit Trek balances adventure, culture, and natural beauty, catering to both seasoned trekkers and those seeking an immersive Himalayan experience. With expert guides, well-planned logistics, and a focus on safety, this trek offers a once-in-a-lifetime journey through one of Nepal’s most captivating mountain regions.
Embark on the Manaslu Circuit Trek 7 Days Ending in Pokhara to witness Nepal’s raw beauty, ancient traditions, and towering peaks — all in a single, unforgettable adventure.
Your journey begins with a long yet scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jagat by private jeep. The route follows the Prithvi Highway before turning toward the rugged mountain roads of the Manaslu region. Along the way, you’ll pass through charming villages, terraced farmland, and riverside landscapes. This drive is the gateway to the restricted Manaslu Conservation Area, offering your first glimpse into rural Nepal’s natural beauty and cultural diversity.
The trek officially begins as you leave Jagat and enter the Budhi Gandaki Valley. The trail passes through Sirdibas and Philim, where you'll start to notice Tibetan cultural influences. The path gradually ascends through subtropical forests and suspension bridges before reaching the peaceful village of Deng, known for its scenic views and rich Gurung and Tibetan culture.
Today’s trek offers dramatic changes in both landscape and altitude. From Deng, the trail continues through lush forests, narrow gorges, and charming settlements like Bihi and Prok Village. As you reach Namrung, you’ll be welcomed by spectacular views of Ganesh Himal and Siringi Himal. Namrung is a cultural highlight of the trek, offering well-preserved Tibetan Buddhist heritage and traditional stone houses.
As you ascend, the air becomes cooler and thinner. The trail passes through Lihi, Lho, and Shyala, offering panoramic views of Manaslu (8,163m), Himalchuli, and Ngadi Chuli. Arriving in Samagaon, a large and culturally significant village, you’ll see mani walls, chortens, and ancient monasteries. This is a perfect place to experience the Tibetan Buddhist lifestyle in the high Himalayas.
Leaving Samagaon behind, the trail leads upward through alpine terrain with sparse vegetation and expansive views. You’ll pass Samdo, a remote village just a few kilometers from the Tibetan border. After a short break, continue your journey to Dharamsala, also known as Larke Phedi, the base camp for Larkya La Pass. This area has basic accommodation but incredible mountain views.
Today is the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek. Begin early to cross the breathtaking Larkya La Pass (5,106m), one of the highest and most dramatic passes in the Himalayas. The ascent offers striking views of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II. After celebrating at the summit, descend through glacial valleys to reach the tranquil village of Bimthang, surrounded by pine forests and snowy peaks.
On your final day, descend through lush rhododendron and oak forests toward Tilje, enjoying views of Lamjung Himal and pastoral landscapes. From Tilje, take a shared jeep to Besisahar, and then a private vehicle to Pokhara. This relaxing drive marks the end of your trek, and you’ll arrive in Pokhara, where you can unwind by Phewa Lake and reflect on your incredible Himalayan adventure.
The following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek. It is important you do not forget the essential items, as this will determine your comfort and safety on the trek. Equally important is that you do not burden yourself with unnecessary equipment on the trek.
(Note our company guide will carry the medicines and first aid kits during the trek. However, we recommend you bring your personal first-aid kit as well)
The ideal time to embark on the Manaslu Circuit Trek is during the pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November) seasons. These months offer the clearest skies, moderate temperatures, and stable weather conditions, making trekking safer and more enjoyable. Avoiding the monsoon season helps trekkers steer clear of heavy rains, slippery trails, and potential landslides.
Trekking the Manaslu Circuit requires a special Restricted Area Permit (RAP) and a Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP). These permits are mandatory to protect the fragile ecosystem and local culture. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking assist with the permit process to ensure a smooth start to your adventure. Carry your permits at all times during the trek as you may encounter checkpoints.
Though this trek is doable within 7 days, it demands a good level of physical fitness due to steep ascents, high altitude, and long trekking days. Prior cardiovascular training, strength exercises, and hiking practice are recommended before starting. Proper acclimatization and hydration are crucial to avoid altitude sickness, especially while crossing Larkya La Pass (5016m).
Along the Manaslu Circuit, accommodation mainly consists of teahouses and lodges offering basic but comfortable facilities. Hot showers and electricity are available in larger villages like Samagaon and Bhimthang but might be limited at higher or remote spots. Staying in local teahouses also supports the community and gives a chance to experience authentic mountain hospitality.
After completing the trek at Bhimthang, trekkers take a shared jeep to Besisahar, which is the gateway town to the region. From Besisahar, private cars or jeeps are available to reach Pokhara, where trekkers can relax and explore. The road journey offers beautiful views of Nepal’s mid-hills and river valleys, providing a pleasant end to the trekking adventure.

I signed up for the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition based on a friend’s recommendation, and now I can confidently say it was the best travel decision I’ve ever made. Our guide, Tshering, was truly special. Calm, experienced, and incredibly warm-hearted, he guided us through every step with confidence and care. What I admired most was how he made sure everyone in the group felt supported. Whether it was helping with altitude or simply offering a kind word during steep climbs, he was always there. The trek itself was stunning—every day revealed a new landscape and view. We trekked through rhododendron forests, past rivers and waterfalls, and finally reached the snow-filled amphitheater of Annapurna Base Camp. Sherpa Expedition managed all logistics perfectly—from flights to accommodation to delicious meals at the tea houses. Tshering taught us about the culture, pointed out peaks, and even made us laugh during the tough sections. The views from base camp were beyond anything I’ve ever seen—pure magic. I left Nepal with new friendships and a heart full of gratitude. Thank you, Tshering, and thank you, Sherpa Expedition, for an unforgettable experience.
Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Sherpa Expedition made the entire journey smooth and stress-free, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Dendi. His professionalism, combined with his kindness, made him the perfect companion for this adventure. Dendi was extremely knowledgeable and knew the region inside out—he explained the culture, the peaks, and ensured we were adjusting well to the altitude. Every day was an adventure—crossing rivers, walking through thick forest trails, and climbing toward snow-covered landscapes. Sherpa Expedition’s planning was excellent. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara was on time, the porters were friendly and hardworking, and the tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and offered surprisingly good food. Dendi checked our health daily, helped with gear issues, and created a supportive group atmosphere. When we finally reached base camp, the sheer beauty brought tears to my eyes. It felt like standing in the heart of nature. This was not just a trek, but an emotional and beautiful journey. I’m thankful to Dendi and the Sherpa Expedition team. I would absolutely recommend this company for anyone looking to experience the Himalayas.
My brother and I had a great trip to the Everest Base Camp. Together with Santa our very well informed gide, who took care of us in a fantastic way and gave us much information during the hike, and Gulzen our porter (who carried each day our two bags of 10kg each plus his own bag....unbelievable). We had a wonderful time in the beautiful Himalayas, it was a lifetime experience!
