The Manaslu Circuit Trek 8 Days ending in Pokhara, expertly crafted by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, offers one of Nepal’s most thrilling and scenic Himalayan adventures. This moderately challenging trek combines remote landscapes, authentic Tibetan-influenced culture, and high-altitude excitement—all packed into just 8 unforgettable days.
This incredible trek begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Jagat, where the journey into the Manaslu Conservation Area officially starts. As the vehicle leaves behind the bustling city, travelers are treated to scenic views of rural Nepal, winding mountain roads, and terraced farmland. Upon arrival in Jagat, the adventure transitions into foot travel, leading trekkers into one of Nepal's most pristine and less-crowded trekking regions.
From Jagat, the trail ascends gradually through traditional villages and subtropical forests, passing Deng, a beautiful and peaceful village nestled along the Budhi Gandaki River. As you continue upward, the terrain transforms, and the culture becomes increasingly Tibetan. The next stop, Namrung, offers spectacular mountain views and a chance to experience authentic Himalayan village life, surrounded by views of Siringi Himal and Ganesh Himal.
Reaching Samagaon (3,530m) is a key highlight of the Manaslu Circuit. This village, rich in Tibetan Buddhist heritage, is surrounded by dramatic peaks and ancient mani walls, chortens, and monasteries. A well-deserved acclimatization day at Samagaon allows trekkers to either relax or opt for a side hike to the breathtaking Manaslu Base Camp (4,800m) or the spiritually significant Pung Gyen Gompa. Both options offer stunning views of Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest mountain.
Continuing the journey, the trail leads to Samdo, a windswept highland village near the Tibetan border. Here, trekkers can enjoy majestic views and the unique high-altitude lifestyle of the locals. From Samdo, the path climbs toward Dharamsala (Larke Phedi), the staging point for the highest part of the trek.
Crossing the formidable Larke La Pass (5,106m) is the most challenging and rewarding part of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. The early morning climb is physically demanding, but the views from the top—featuring Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II—make the effort worthwhile. After the pass, a steep descent leads to Bhimthang, a beautiful alpine valley surrounded by forests and mountain panoramas.
From Bhimthang, the trekking portion ends with a scenic hike down to Tilje, followed by a shared local jeep ride to Besisahar. From there, a private car or jeep transfer to Pokhara concludes this epic journey. Arriving in Pokhara, trekkers can relax by Phewa Lake, enjoy a hot shower, and reflect on the unforgettable adventure through one of Nepal’s most dramatic and untouched trekking routes.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek 8 Days is perfect for trekkers seeking both challenge and culture in a condensed timeframe. With expert guidance, logistics, and support from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking, this itinerary ensures a safe, scenic, and culturally immersive experience—ending beautifully in the vibrant city of Pokhara.
Your adventure begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Jagat. The journey takes approximately 9 to 11 hours along winding mountain roads, offering beautiful views of terraced fields, rivers, and traditional villages. Jagat is the gateway to the Manaslu region, where you’ll prepare for the trekking days ahead. This drive is a great introduction to Nepal’s diverse landscapes and rural life.
Starting your trek, you follow the Budhi Gandaki River valley as you move from Jagat to Deng. The trail passes through charming villages, lush forests, and suspension bridges, immersing you in the natural beauty of the Manaslu Conservation Area. Deng is a peaceful village where you can relax and acclimatize as you settle into the mountain atmosphere.
Today, you trek from Deng to Namrung, gradually gaining altitude. The trail winds through alpine forests, rhododendron groves, and terraced fields. Namrung is a traditional Tibetan-influenced village, rich with mani walls, chortens, and monasteries, offering a unique cultural experience alongside stunning mountain views.
The path from Namrung to Samagaon takes you deeper into the high Himalayas. Samagaon is a beautiful village located near the base of Manaslu, surrounded by towering peaks and prayer flags fluttering in the wind. The village itself is culturally significant with ancient monasteries and local traditions. This is a longer trekking day but highly rewarding for its breathtaking scenery.
Rest and acclimatize with an optional day hike. You can choose to visit Pungin Gompa, a peaceful Buddhist monastery perched on a hill, or venture further to the Manaslu Base Camp for close-up views of the massive Manaslu peak. This day helps your body adjust to the high altitude and deepens your connection with the Himalayan environment.
Trekking from Samagaon to Dharamsala (also known as Larke Phedi), you start ascending toward the highest point of the trek. Dharamsala is a small settlement offering basic lodges and a crucial resting point before crossing the challenging Larke La Pass. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine as you prepare for the upcoming pass.
This is the most demanding day of the trek as you cross the Larke La Pass, the highest point of the circuit at 5,106 meters. The early morning climb is steep and requires stamina, but the panoramic views of surrounding peaks like Himlung Himal and Annapurna II are unforgettable. After descending from the pass, you reach Bhimthang, a tranquil alpine valley surrounded by forests and grasslands.
On the final day, you trek from Bhimthang down to Tilje, enjoying the changing landscapes as you descend to lower altitudes. From Tilje, you take a shared local jeep to Besisahar, followed by a private car or jeep ride to the lakeside city of Pokhara. Arriving in Pokhara marks the end of your trek, where you can unwind beside Phewa Lake and celebrate your accomplishment.
The following information will give you some idea about what you need to bring for the trek. It is important you do not forget the essential items, as this will determine your comfort and safety on the trek. Equally important is that you do not burden yourself with unnecessary equipment on the trek.
(Note our company guide will carry the medicines and first aid kits during the trek. However, we recommend you bring your personal first-aid kit as well)
The ideal seasons to undertake the Manaslu Circuit Trek are during the pre-monsoon (spring) months of March to May and the post-monsoon (autumn) months of September to November. These periods offer clear skies, stable weather, and vibrant natural beauty. Spring brings blooming rhododendrons and wildflowers, while autumn rewards trekkers with crisp air and stunning mountain views. Winter can be harsh with snow, especially around the Larke La Pass, and the monsoon season brings heavy rain, making trails slippery and challenging.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek reaches high altitudes, crossing the Larke La Pass at 5,106 meters. Proper acclimatization is crucial to minimize the risks of altitude sickness. Scheduled rest days, such as the acclimatization day in Samagaon, help your body adjust gradually. Drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, and monitoring your health throughout the trek are essential practices. Guides and porters provided by Sherpa Expedition and Trekking carry oxygen meters to check vital signs regularly and ensure your safety.
Manaslu is known for its rich Tibetan Buddhist culture, reflected in its remote villages like Samagaon, Samdo, and Namrung. Along the trail, trekkers encounter ancient monasteries, mani walls, prayer flags, and traditional stone houses. Local inhabitants follow Tibetan customs and speak dialects influenced by Tibetan and Nepali languages. Interactions with the locals offer an authentic cultural insight into Himalayan mountain life, making this trek a deeply enriching experience beyond the stunning landscapes.
During the Manaslu Circuit Trek, accommodations mainly consist of teahouses and lodges that provide basic but comfortable twin-share rooms with warm blankets. Facilities can be rustic compared to more popular trekking routes but are sufficient for a cozy stay. Meals typically include hearty Nepali and Tibetan dishes such as dal bhat, noodles, soups, and momos. Staying nourished and well-rested is vital, and Sherpa Expedition and Trekking ensures you receive three meals a day as part of the package.
Though the Manaslu Circuit Trek is considered moderate to strenuous due to altitude and daily walking durations, a good level of physical fitness is required. Preparing with cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and hiking practice before the trip greatly enhances your trekking experience. It’s also recommended to have some experience with multi-day trekking and the ability to walk 5-7 hours daily on varied terrain. With proper training and the expert support from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking’s guides, the trek becomes not only achievable but truly rewarding.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is classified as a moderate to strenuous trek due to the high altitude and length of daily walks, ranging from 4 to 9 hours. The most challenging part is crossing the Larke La Pass at 5,106 meters, which requires good physical fitness and proper acclimatization. Trekkers should have prior trekking experience and be prepared for uneven trails, variable weather, and altitude changes.
Yes, trekking in the Manaslu region requires special permits due to it being a restricted area. You must obtain the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Sherpa Expedition and Trekking handles all permit arrangements, ensuring your trek complies with local regulations and conservation efforts.
The best trekking seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these times, the weather is generally clear, the temperature is moderate, and mountain views are spectacular. Avoid the monsoon season (June to August) due to heavy rainfall and landslide risks, and winter because of cold temperatures and snow at high altitudes.
Accommodation on the Manaslu Circuit primarily consists of teahouses and lodges offering basic twin-sharing rooms. Facilities can vary from simple to comfortable, with warm blankets, shared bathrooms, and limited hot water. While lodges on the trek provide essential services, they may not be as luxurious as in more popular trekking areas. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking selects the best possible lodges for your comfort and safety.
Yes, an essential part of the itinerary includes a rest and acclimatization day at Samagaon. This allows your body to adjust to the increasing altitude, reducing the risk of altitude sickness. You can also use this day for optional hikes to Manaslu Base Camp or Pung Gyen Gompa, which help improve your acclimatization while experiencing stunning mountain scenery.
You will be served three meals a day, typically including local Nepali and Tibetan cuisine such as dal bhat (rice and lentils), noodles, soups, and momos (dumplings). Meals are hearty and nutritious to keep you energized. Special dietary requirements can usually be accommodated if informed in advance. Hot drinks like tea and coffee are also available but may be charged separately.
A moderate to high level of physical fitness is recommended. Prior experience with multi-day trekking and the ability to walk on uneven mountain trails for several hours daily is important. Cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and endurance hikes are advisable before the trip. The support of experienced guides and porters also helps make the trek more manageable.
Packing essentials include layered clothing for varying temperatures, a good-quality sleeping bag, sturdy trekking boots, trekking poles, a down jacket, and rain gear. Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a first aid kit are also important. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking provides sleeping bags and some equipment if needed. Always pack light but prepare for cold nights and potential rain.
Mobile coverage is available in larger villages like Jagat, Deng, and Samagaon but is often weak or nonexistent in remote areas and high passes. Internet access is limited and mostly available in some teahouses with Wi-Fi, usually for an extra fee. It’s best to plan for limited connectivity and enjoy the unplugged nature of the trek.

I signed up for the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition based on a friend’s recommendation, and now I can confidently say it was the best travel decision I’ve ever made. Our guide, Tshering, was truly special. Calm, experienced, and incredibly warm-hearted, he guided us through every step with confidence and care. What I admired most was how he made sure everyone in the group felt supported. Whether it was helping with altitude or simply offering a kind word during steep climbs, he was always there. The trek itself was stunning—every day revealed a new landscape and view. We trekked through rhododendron forests, past rivers and waterfalls, and finally reached the snow-filled amphitheater of Annapurna Base Camp. Sherpa Expedition managed all logistics perfectly—from flights to accommodation to delicious meals at the tea houses. Tshering taught us about the culture, pointed out peaks, and even made us laugh during the tough sections. The views from base camp were beyond anything I’ve ever seen—pure magic. I left Nepal with new friendships and a heart full of gratitude. Thank you, Tshering, and thank you, Sherpa Expedition, for an unforgettable experience.
Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Sherpa Expedition made the entire journey smooth and stress-free, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Dendi. His professionalism, combined with his kindness, made him the perfect companion for this adventure. Dendi was extremely knowledgeable and knew the region inside out—he explained the culture, the peaks, and ensured we were adjusting well to the altitude. Every day was an adventure—crossing rivers, walking through thick forest trails, and climbing toward snow-covered landscapes. Sherpa Expedition’s planning was excellent. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara was on time, the porters were friendly and hardworking, and the tea houses we stayed in were comfortable and offered surprisingly good food. Dendi checked our health daily, helped with gear issues, and created a supportive group atmosphere. When we finally reached base camp, the sheer beauty brought tears to my eyes. It felt like standing in the heart of nature. This was not just a trek, but an emotional and beautiful journey. I’m thankful to Dendi and the Sherpa Expedition team. I would absolutely recommend this company for anyone looking to experience the Himalayas.
My brother and I had a great trip to the Everest Base Camp. Together with Santa our very well informed gide, who took care of us in a fantastic way and gave us much information during the hike, and Gulzen our porter (who carried each day our two bags of 10kg each plus his own bag....unbelievable). We had a wonderful time in the beautiful Himalayas, it was a lifetime experience!
