The Cho La Pass Everest Base Camp Trek is more technically advanced than some of the other treks in the region  – and therefore more adventurous!

Cho La Passes Everest base Camp Trek some long days of 7 to 9 hours but the majority are 5 to 6 hours in length. Cho La passes Everest Base Camp Trek is a stunning trek for those with stamina and a sense of Journey.

Fly around the Everest region and out of Lukla ensures the maximum amount of time is spent in the Himalayas. However, acclimatization is a must and it is done in the famous Namche Bazaar, from where it is possible to take a short, but steep walk to Everest View Hotel for your first close-up of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kusum Kangaru.

On this Adventure, we can also visit Khumjung Village and the Khumjung Hillary School, started by Sir Edmund Hillary to give back to the local Sherpa people.

Going close to the Ngozumpa Glacier hikers are awarded for making the narrow and steep climb when we reach three of the Gokyo Lakes (Gokyo Valley) with their turquoise, clear water.

A key feature of this trek is the steep climb up to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to view Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and numerous Himalayan peaks. This trek provides us with both magnificent mountain views and acts as acclimatization for the long day ahead to cross the Cho La Pass (5,420m).

We cross the Cho La pass before the winds set in, it is necessary to start the day very early, around 4 or 5 am. This is a tough day with the top of the pass being at over 5,420 m. A Part of the path is over ice, making it a real once in a lifetime experience!

Its feeling of achievement continues as the trekking route goes on to Gorak Shep elevation at 5,180m, Mount Everest Base Camp, and Kalapatthar, also known as Everest View Point.

Cho la pass Everest Base Camp trek certainly has its challenges such as long and strenuous trekking days but the rewards more than makeup for it in terms of personal experience and a unique gallery of glorious photographs!

Detailed Itinerary of Chola Pass Everest Base Camp Trek 

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu transfer to hotel.

After your arrival in the Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu, Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team representative will be waiting for you with a Nepalese style greeting and pick you from there and drop you to your hotel in Thamel. You can take rest for a while enjoying the outside environment and explore the place where you are. You will stay in the Hotel at Kathmandu Thamel.

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek preparation day

After breakfast, we will enjoy the full day sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu valley. we can enjoy the visit to the many cultural sites listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites including the famous Hindu temple Pashupatinath temple, Krishna Mandir, Buddhist stupa Swyambhunath, Boudhnath and city old palace complex Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square which makes us feel calm and peace. Then on the way to our hotel, we can explore the local area, lifestyle. We can also explore and enjoy shopping in the Thamel tourist area. We will stay in a hotel at Thamel Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,869 meters) and trek to Phakding Duration: 5-6 hours

Today Early in the morning after the light breakfast, We will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla flight of about 30-minute scenic and adventure flight. The clear weather, we can enjoy the beautiful views of the mountain including Mount Everest. After arrival at the Lukla, we will begin our trek following a gentle climb up the mountainside. Along the path, we will enjoy the beautiful views of mt. Nupla, Kusum Kangaru, and the Mount Kwongde Range. Around the 3 hours walk, we will reach to the Phakding village. We can explore the place if we have free time for the local knowledge. We will stay in Phakding village.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Today after having hot breakfast we will trek to reach Namche Bazar leaving the Pakding village following the Dudh Koshi river, trek through the pine and bamboo forest, passing the scattered village of the local Sherpa, cross the suspension bridge before arriving the Monjo(the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha national park). We will also cross the beautiful waterfalls and other culturally and naturally occurring items. We will also be rewarded with the gorgeous views of the Mt.Everest, Nuptse, Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, and other numerous Himalayan peaks during the trek. continuing the path we will reach the Namche Bazar, this town is the main gateway of the Everest region and also the famous trade center of the Everest Region. Namche Bazaar also offers you spectacular views of the world's highest mountains. We can also explore Namche Bazar, their culture and local tradition. We will stay in Namche Bazaar at Guesthouse.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar, Rest and Acclimatization

Today after having breakfast is our spare day in the Namche Bazaar. This is the capital of the Sherpa and also a famous trade center of the Tibet and Khumbu region. We will explore this day around the Namche Bazaar, experience the local culture and tradition, experience the warm hospitality of the locals, enjoy the remote lifestyle and many more. The same day we can hike to Everest view hotel for acclimatization adjust your body in high altitude. This village offers you the gorgeous views of the splendid views of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Dhaulagiri and many more. we will stay in Namche Bazaar at Guesthouse.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,038m) Duration: 5-6 hours

Today early in the morning after having breakfast, we will leave to Namche Bazaar to reach dole, we can enjoy the clear views of the snow-capped and unique vegetations on the trial. We can also observe their lifestyle and Sherpa culture. We can also explore the remote lifestyle and can see the locals engage here irrigate the crops for the needs and earn their income. Farming and lodging are the main occupations of the local peoples at dole village. Normally it takes 5-6 hours to reach dole leaving the Namche Bazaar. We will stay in Dole at Guesthouse.

Day 07: Dole to Machhermo (4,470m) Duration: 4-5 hours

Today after breakfast we cross the dole, we will head to Mochermo, we can get an excellent view of the valley. It takes 5-6 hours to reach Machhermo from Dole. We will also climb to the Ngozumpz glacier (a major attraction while heading to the Machhermo it is also the world's second-largest glacier by its appearance). After arriving in the Machhermo we will explore the place collect the beautiful experience of the remote lifestyle, beautiful mountains, flora and fauna and natural beauty which is untouched by modernization and commercialization. We will stay in Machhermo at Guesthouse.

Day 08: Machhermo to Gokyo (4,750) Duration 4-5 hours

After breakfast, we start our journey to reach the beautiful Gokyo valley. Our nearest path to the wonderful village and the beautiful lake (Gokyo) begins from the Machhermo. The Gokyo Valley is the famous trekking destination of our trek. We will trek to Gokyo village via Ngozumpa Glacier. On the path, We can take the close views of Mount Everest, Lhotse,  Cho Oyu,  Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding snow-capped Himalayan peaks. The Gokyo Valley lies north of the Dudh Pokhari so we can also explore this lake if we have some time which looks amazingly outstanding. Though this is very far from the urban city it doesn't lack natural beauty. The Valley and the lake is the main attraction of the Cho La pass Everest base camp trek. We will stay in Gokyo at Guesthouse.

Day 09: Hike to Gokyo Ri(5,350 meters), return to Gokyo lake Duration: 6-7 hours

After visiting the Gokyo valley and Gokyo lake today we will do for hiking up to Gokyo Ri early in the morning to see the amazing sunrise views of the mountain and Gokyo valley. The Gokyo Ri is an excellent viewpoint in the Everest region. We normally have to hike up 3 hours to reach Gokyo Ri. Collect the memorable views and descend back to Gokyo. We will stay in Gokyo at Guesthouse.

Day 10: Gokyo Lake to Thangnak (4,700m) Duration: 5-6 hours

After climbing Gokyo Ri yesterday, we're leaving this valley and heading to the Thangnak. It means we will trek down the Ngozbuma glacier before finding the guesthouse at Thangnak. The experience of the remote lifestyle, trek through the scattered village of the local Sherpa and Magar, experience the beautiful natural beauty, views of the snow-capped mountains. We will stay in Thangnak at Guesthouse.

Day 11: Thangnak to Dzongla(4860 meters) via Cho-la Pass Duration 7-10 hours

After having breakfast, We will climb to the Cho La Pass, enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayas, capture some in our camera. After exploring the place descend to Thangnak.We will enjoy the lunch and move ahead leaving Thangnak to Dzongla following the path, crocking the dense forest, the scattered village we will reach to Dzongla after walking around four hours. We will stay in Dzongla at Guesthouse.

Day 12: Dzongla to Lobuche (4,900m) Duration 3-4 hours

Today After having a hot breakfast, we will leave Dzongla to reach Lobuche. During our trek, we will offer the beautiful views of Mount Everest, Mt Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and much more snow-capped mountains, trek through the unique landscapes. After walking for four hours we will reach today's destination Lobuche. We will stay in Lobuche at Guesthouse.

Day 13: Lobuche to Gorak Shep to EBC (5,364 meters) to Gorak Shep 6-7 hours

after breakfast, we will walk to the Gorak Shep. We will stop for lunch in Gorak Shep. After lunch, we head to Everest Base Camp which takes around 2 to 3 hours to reach the lap of the world's highest mountain, enjoy the beautiful environment, offer scenery. Capture the moment in our camera, we will take a rest for a while in the lap of Mt Everest and will return back to Gorakshep. We will stay in Gorak shep at Guesthouse.

Day 14: Hike to Kalapatthar 5,550m For Sunrise and Trek to Pangboche Duration: 7-9 hours

We get up for an early morning at 4:00 am a departure, amid pre-dawn darkness and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C). Plus, there is always the potential for cold winds which are quite common. Common peaks such as Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself. But, it is upon reaching Kala Patthar (5550m) that we get to see360 degree up-close and stunning views of Mount. Everest. After enjoying the magnificent mountain panorama and of course taking plenty of pictures you will return back to Lobuche for a good night's rest. Overnight in Pangboche. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 15: Trek Back to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m). Overnight at a Guesthouse

From Pangboche we retrace our stairs down to the Imja Khola and up through the rhododendron forest to Tengboche monasteries. Interested one can also explore the nuns (women religious) at the Tengboche monastery. After lunch at Tengboche, you tend to continue through the hillside blanketed by colorful rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the bridge over the (milky river) Dudh Koshi River, our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests before reaching Sansa. We keep a lookout for wildlife such as (Himalaya Thar) mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants while passing through the forest. After passing a Chorten, you get through the Army camp at Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2,804 m). Overnight at a Guesthouse.

Today is the last day of our trekking as we return to Lukla where the trek starts out. We enjoy this time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. The afternoon is free, so you can relax and enjoy a hot shower! In the evening, celebrate with your trek mates have a few celebratory drinks and dance. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu Duration: 35 minutes

We take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu after our 18 days long mountain journey. After reaching Kathmandu, you can take a rest or do some shopping. If you want to explore any other missed sites of Kathmandu, you may do that today. Our guides will assist you with both souvenirs shopping or sightseeing. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening with Nepali traditional cultural dance show restaurant.

Day 18: Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport.

Our last days' adventure comes to an end today! Our company representative will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your nearest next adventure in the wonderful country, Nepal.
